Nicely captured Heather. This truly shows the difficulty that they experience in these type of conditions. Well done

Thank you so much Clifford. Yes, it's been a difficult winter for the deer with the heavy snows we had earlier then freezing rains which make the snow crusty and hard on their legs. They seem to be holding up well so far and hopefully spring isn't too far off.

I love this image Heather along with your narrative. It certainly does show the struggles that wildlife has maneuvering through the deep snow and finding food. A great moment with the proud buck in the lead and the little doe looking back at you. Hopefully they have seen the worst of winter and temperatures will warm and the snow will start to melt.

Thank you very much, Debra. This was one of several pauses the buck took to let the does and fawns catch up. It was a beautiful sight and later I could see where they've been back feeding on trees by the driveway which gives them easy access. I think we're all hoping for an early spring.

Thank you so much, Yves. I saw them feeding on dogwood bushes by the garden earlier in the day but the lighting wasn't good. When they came back a few hours later the lighting was better and I had a chance to really watch them and get some better shots. The does and young ones looked pretty tired from their journey through the deep snow.

Description
I happened to look out the window in time to catch a family of mule deer crossing the yard. The buck led the way through a path recently made by a moose. The deep snow is making it difficult for the deer and especially the fawns as they move around in search of food which is getting harder for them to access.
